Head vs Ceiling

You ever have one of those days when you think your head is stuck in the ceiling?

Expendable items can now call events.  Why on earth would that be a good thing you might ask.  A couple reasons, one is players deciding to give lactation gems to girls who have already been milked, you know who you are.  This allows me to build specific events to fix issues like that the other reason is stuff can happen when you use an item.  About the only thing right now will be for the tutorial but later on this might be useful for other stuff.

Syntax is easy... just add event to the main tag.

Was something that I had been planing to do for a few months.

Debug bar and OMG its an Onion Bug!

First off I know a dozen people are going to bug report it but I want to say right up front that if you have debug up the hotkeys for "p"(pens) and "t"(town) are disabled... so that apples can be added to the game.  Want to use the hotkeys turn off debug.  As you can tell I keep adding crap to the the bug bar and items are now added if you can spell them right.

The last two days I have been trying to figure out why the float over text didn't recognize items held by the player.  This was an onion bug.

1) The text parser didn't parse anything but simple variables such as 1 == 1.  So added an event checker for all types of events.  Okay that should have been it right.
2) Nope the issue goes deeper seems that items are not being parsed in if they use label instead of name for the tag so a lot of item checks weren't working.  This is bad documentation on my part but is the reason chastity belts aren't working.  That's fixed.
3) Oh but we are not done yet.  You see the checks were true and always checking if exists not if doesn't exist.  That's fixed.

I'm tired of bugs.

Items and Content and unknown coins

Oh Yuki's Coin the simplest quest in the game designed originally to just test out quests.  The good old fetch and return quest... Damn I hate you.  Been working on it off and on for the last few days when doing content.  It showed a glaring issue.  The event system can not check for an item not existing.  The logic was just allowing for check if exists or return false.  So if it checked for not exists it still returned false.  Anyways the item system was rewrote quickly expect a walk through on how to use in the event system.  Like effects it now has specific labels for check and change rather then the mash together I went with originally.

Did you miss the last post website is back up.  Release imminent... hopefully.

Mods!!!

Zero Profile has uploaded Yoruichi's head.  Yay!  Which means she can be turned back on in the game.  Thanks ZP!

Add to that a new comer by the name of Edi released this AWESOME!  baby dolls.  This is some damn impressive work!  I'm psyched if you can tell.

As a side note the SVN is broke at the moment as I rip out icons all together.  For those who have been playing with it I'm sorry.

Both these mods are uploaded to the SVN.

(I have no idea how I got stuck in centered text... not liking the new blogger.)

Missed a post... I blame Skyrim

Yes I missed the daily post. Skyrim and too many customers at work got me.

------

Some bug reports now not to many that were significant. And some good suggestions, I don't really feel like implementing tonight. But I may anyways or I may ignore and play with the text system.

I wanted to note that wWonder Dog did a huge amount of work updating and fixing the item xmls right before the release and wanted to thank him on the blog. You rock, Sir!

Even more random stuff

First off Sphay has made a bunch of really interesting items, I can't believe we didn't have a bunny tail before now... oh well thanks to Sphay and expect them in the next release.

-------------

Compuscribe is currently working on a major move of certain internal data. So I'm not much playing with OW at the moment. No reason to create multiple copies if I can help it. May work on adding items or back to the new text system... or nothing we shall see how it goes.

Items done Text taking a while

All the items are encoded and I did a few test runs and think I got all the bad paths fixed. Someone is probably going to have to go through and update the descriptions as a lot of them I just added something on the fly. Anyways there on the SVN.

Almost got done with the Cunnilingus Female Player + Female Slave by AzaggThoth. Adding text takes forever and the current system will be removed soon I swear to an XML system. But that's some time in the future after a stable release. Tonight more text and probably at the rate I am going that will keep on being true for a few more nights.

Also Flashnovice has found a few more bugs to play with so getting there but ever, ever so slowly.

Adding Items

So got about 2/3 of all those items added last night. One of the nice new things is since I added a multi file parse I could break the items up and sort them by type.

book name = "itemInfo.xml"
book name = "itemPony.xml"
book name = "itemNeko.xml"
book name = "itemfurniture.xml"
book name = "itemArmor.xml"
book name = "itemtop.xml"
book name = "itempanties.xml"
book name = "itemshoes.xml"
book name = "itembra.xml"
book name = "itemnurse.xml"

Also tried to sort the image files into some sense. At least for the new files. Should get items finished and start on text tonight.

1 bug to go!

Cleared the odd bid button bug. Just could not figure out why the images are disappearing in the auction screen. Going to talk to Docclox about it the next time I see him.

As for tonight content, I have over 1400 lines of content from the forums to add before a release if I can. Some 80 items. About 4 new text trees for sex play. Thanks to everyone who posted stuff btw. Don't be surprised if there is a release sometime this weekend... Though that much text to add will take me a few days. Depends how busy work is.

Classes fixed again... I think...

Okay classes should be working properly. Was a bad passed girl variable and that is fixed. Added a bunch of new items to allow for changing your girls attributes but they aren't quite working yet. Overall though just about ready to try releasing again.

Class changes fixed including cow girl

After moving class changes to a class, there all working again. Including the ever popular cow girl. And the reason for changing them over to a class, items can now change classes. So the present, and futa potion work again. Will fix the lotus blossom tonight.

At the same time Docclox has fixed the sale and its about back. Just one or two minor bugs to go. Still trying to work through the rest of the bug reports and then will do another bugged release... might be sooner then later.

--------

On a slightly different note looking for a torrent expert who knows how to set up a tracker and is willing to do so. Or can help with setting with the training of setting one up. OW is a bit large now and a lot people would like torrents.

Items tutorial

Items now have the option of being completely customizable. Allowing for the community to add items at will or for a bored player to alter the rules of the items to make them more in balance with how he/she feels they should be.

This is not a tutorial on XML but if you have ever done HTML you basically know XML if not there are online free classes or just fill in the blanks from a copy and paste.

To make an item you will need an image of the item, please try to hold to the current background images for items. These can be found on the items thread of the forum.

You will also need a text editor, I recommend notepad++ as it will highlight XML linkage.

http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

And just to be on the safe side an xml validation website is always nice. We will come to its use and the end of the item creation.

http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp

Go ahead and go to the following folder.

/otherworld/libs/otherlib/itemStuff/

There should be a folder there called

/ItemImages/

just go ahead and drop your image file in the folder. Yep that hard.

There should also be a itemInfo.xml file in the folder. Open it up. For the most part I recommend copying and pasting an item like yours and then just changing the information as required. Saves a lot of time that way and its basically fill in the blank. Lets talk about the options that are available.

Items have a large number of options so that they are sorted correctly. When you make them try your best to get them sorted in the right category. Though you don't have to include every option most will default to false automatically if there included in the xml.

Item Variables.

*name - Name of the item. If you are linking this item to clothing it must be exactly the same as the name of the clothing item! Also case doesn't matter as it is dropped to lower case immediately.

*file - The file name to access the image. Case sensitive and has to be exact.

alcohol - does it make you drunk? (true/false)

food - is it edible? (true/false)

expendable - does using the item make it disappear. Example eating it. (true/false)

*description - The text message that explains the item. "This is a candy bar. You eat it."

set - Set's are currently not implemented they will at some later day give bonuses for the girl wearing pieces from the same set. Theoretically when they do work the set name should be exactly the same for all pieces.

tattooPlan - Is this a plan for a tattoo? (true/false)

tattoo - if this item is associated with a tattoo ( a tattoo plan) the name of the tattoo

*value - how much it costs (a number)

quest - is this an item given in a quest (true/false)

locking - does it require the blacksmith to add or remove (true/false)

lockunder - this is locking under where futa's can not wear and nothing can be worn under it

equipment - is this a worn item (defaults to true)

furniture - is the item furniture (true/false)

assistant - can the assistant wear the item? (true/false)

player - can the player wear the item? (true/false)

stack - can the item be grouped together to create a stack. Wearable equipment should not be stackable. (true/false)

garment - does a paper doll item exist for this. Not really used the association is based on the items exact name. (true/false)

That is the current list of single variable items. Most of them are not required. Only those with a star are. But there are a number of things that can have multiple changes, they are slots (what slot the item goes in on the girl), effects (timed changes from wearing the item), stat changes(the one time change from using the item), combat stat changes (the change of using the item during combat, usually more significant.)

Slot

*Name - what slots the item goes into on the rag doll and paper doll. Only needed for equipment items. Current list is hat, mask, collar, brand, bracelet, gloves, bra, top, anklet, stockings, panties, skirt, tail,
shoes, apron, cape, nipple left, nipple right, ear left, ear right, ring left, ring right, other left, other right, clit, tattoo, weapon, shield, armor, ammo. If you screw up it will default to a hat.

Effect (we will go in depth on this and how to do effects soon.)

*name - name of the effect has to exactly match up to the effect.

*add - does this item add the effect or remove it when used. If you add a dildo it should remove virgin.(true/false)

unequip - when you remove the item does it remove the effect. This is important in case the effect continues even after the girl has the item unequipped. An example for why you would want stuff to continue is if you ruined some part of the girl.(true/false)

Stat Changes

*type - what Stat is changed. (happiness, health, hp, lust, lp, etc)
*change - how the stat is changed. (+5, -3, etc)

Combat Stat Changes

*type - what Stat is changed. (happiness, health, hp, lust, lp, etc)
*change - how the stat is changed. (+5, -3, etc)

Okay at this point we are about done. So lets check for mistakes, remember that xml validator? Go ahead and drop your new item xml in it and see if there are any errors. If they're are fix them. And that's about it.
*****LOOKS OUT OF DATE FOR EVERYTHING***
Sorting is done with the sorting tag now.  Also special tag event to call events on expendable items.

This is the rough draft before posting on the boards suggestions?

Milk Mafia and other stuff

Items when removed now will remove there effect that's associated with them if you want them too. Expect a walk through on items and effects and how they connect in the next few days, maybe.

Farmer Guild event now spawns but the automatic collection of milk from the tasks window was of course requiring me to rewrite so much more crap then I was expecting. So going to keep working on that and assuming it starts working will start on bugs, I have the bug list and know how to ignore it.

Still effects....

I think I'm in love, again, with this nice goddess.

So I got effects:
Data Path is Correct for xml and images now
Effects to show - started the line up system
Float Over working
Items add effects
and a bunch of little stuff.

Still need to do:
Timed changes
Add or remove - item based
a bunch of automated stuff so that the xml is being used rather then the hard coded system

Not going to mess with any of that today since its a Lazy Day will work on the paper dolls mirroring items now that doc has them up and running also need to finish up Mugi she's only about 2/3 done. Would also like to get the miko done since she has a head. Oh and there is more paper doll aligning work if I get bored. All of these I just can't quite do at work.

Still feels like release is close but not for probably a few days and the very earliest.

Fixing Confusion

First off I will be releasing bugged versions very soon, probably limited alpha releases (in chat channel) and then general beta releases. I made a mistake with releases and it shows, its much better to do bunch of small releases test it out fix the bugs. Then a large super buggy release. So expect that after this bugging and release cycle to see releases every time I get a new feature added. Not really time based but when there is a new shiny toy there will be a release. Also now that were going more and more xml there will not need to be a release to add new stuff. New girls and new items will be doable with this release by just copy and pasting from the forums.

So items now add stats yay. A bunch of new bugs do to changing classes from ints to strings which I spent a lot of the night pounding down, most of which would have been removed when I xml jobs later on anyways but that would take me a month or two so I think fixing for now is a fine compromise. I started expendables... and then got distracted and forgot to finish them... Oh well.

Redcape has given us the following new head goodness...

XML Classes

So everyone probably saw this but me... but to make the items in a string equal a class string equal. I need classes in strings... and that requires information. So since I was going to change classes over to xml later on in the next a few updates to allow for community added classes it just seemed faster to do it now then have to rewrite stuff twice. So obviously that was a tangent and the girl point adding is still only about 1/2 way done.

To answer the class questions now, no that is in no way the full xml later versions... which depending on how much head banging is required to fix the bugs this caused will add the float over text and image loaders for the icons.

Stuff I want to XML but people will kill me if I delay the release any further...

1)Shops
2)Effects
3)Jobs
4)Personal Jobs

I really want to do shops and allow the community to add events and items for sale.

Coming in for a landing

Landers now show if its a slot the item can fall into... and it was like 3 lines of code. I was rather pleased it fell in under 10mins.

Producer is working now too... as a matter of fact all movement is done. Finally had a good night just getting stuff done.

The only things left now are stat changes and expendables which sort of go hand to hand. Remove and item change the stats and your done. That will actually be simpler then changing the girl equipment items stats since they have affect more. Still should be about one nights worth... (plan 3) and then off to bugs.

Character Screen again float drag drop done

It's a little difficult to see since the lander is pretty light but if you look closely it's there in the image. I may at a later date add an ability to show floats over on spots the item is equitable at... actually I may do that tonight. Drag and drop and collision resulting from drag and drop works. The main PITA is the producer I ripped out the code again for it, as it was putting producers to the wrong items and driving me insane. So starting at page one again with that code. Hopefully this time I will have an epiphany.

Still to go...
