I'm sure no one cares, but I rambled on for far too long about this, in my blog.<br /><br />Short version: randomness provides a level of unpredictability that can keep things fresh, but at the expense of narrative control. You can't design a conversation that builds on things that were mentioned earlier, if you don't have any idea which parts will be played, first.<br /><br />Basically, there's a time for randomness, and a time for order.
